ZEINA - Mohammed Abdul Wahab

This is the song we’re using for our Beginners’ classes. Here’s a little guide on the song to help shaping your mood in interpreting the dance.

The line ZEINA ZEINA WALLAH YA ZEINA YA ZEINA is being repeated over & over in the song and here’s what it meant: (Zeina is a female name that means the beautiful http://babynamesworld.parentsconnect.com/meaning_of_Zeina.html) and the run on lines say: Oh Zeina, my God oh Zeina.

So this is the context, let’s interpret & dance with our own attitude towards this ‘desperate & yearning man looking at us with utter admiration!’ You can also listen to the original composition here (sung by 1 lead & group of chorus) http://lyle.smu.edu/~saad/abdelwahab/music.html , let me talk more abt Mohammed Abdel Wahab next time!

Proud! Produced & directed "Having Fun, Seriously", was a great success!

mmm... it's really been a while that I haven't updated this blog, it's abt time to catch up with some updates after all the hectic months!

May-Aug 09:
Very grateful to be invited by Hong Kong LCSD in presenting some choreographies by Cody. Being both the Producer & Director for the performance "Having Fun, Seriously."(4 shows), it has been tough since multitasking between everything at the backend like budgeting, marketing, production, costumes, coordinating... to the front directing dancers in terms of performance quality & lots of counselling to prepare them getting into the right characters, plus the endless hours reviewing videos with Cody and discussing creative directions of each choreography etc etc etc... been tough but well
worth it. It was great to get so much interests from the press as well- far beyond LCSD's expectations! (bet they haven't expected such high audience occupancy as well- 90% if we need an average here!) If you want to know more abt the show, the press & th
e group, visit www.codysmovinggroup.com , and here you go with our trailor edited by myself (the actual show video will be ready soon) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHr7tNzf-4U .

Now, the standard of our Group is set high, even more challenging for the next coming one in December,

Ada has over 10 yrs of belly dance performing experience in the UK & Hong Kong. Well-known for her authentic improvisation skill into both classical and new age interpretations, she is invited to perform at numerous stage shows, cabarets & festivals. Recent ones in the UK include the Trafalgar Festival, Dublin Fringe Festival, Premiere for National Geographic, functions for the Conservative Party, the London Mayor and regular appearances at restaurants & clubs like Ayoush, GoGoush, Maison Touaregue, Momo Lounge in London.

She has learnt Classical Egyptian to Tribal Fusion style from masters including Hossam & Serena Ramzy, Yasmina Ramzy, Asmahan, Tamalyn Dallel and Susan Frankovich etc. Her rich background of Jazz and other Asian ethnic dances from Malaysia, Thailand and Philippines have also enriched her movement vocabularies .

Ada's passion in cultural issues have also led her to be the Researcher & Presenter for an RTHK Documentary about the lost song & dance in Chinese minorities.

Ada is experienced in teaching to all ages. She's well-loved by students for her anatomic approach with movements and emphasis in the therapeutic effect of belly dancing to a woman's body & soul. She insists in keeping classes organised by herself small and intimate to give sufficient attention to individuals.

"Ada is so good to work with, she's very versatile, very sensitive to music and always come up with surprising interpretation spontaneously." Ceyan, Dj: Turkish, Arabic, Latin, Asian, Greek Plus Live Darbuka Drums

"Ada's show is always engaging and well-loved! Always on demand!" Youseff, Manager, Momo Lounge
